1950, USA, Billy Wilder, 110 min.

Introduced by street artist Bradley Theodore.
Down-on-his-luck screenwriter Joe Gillis (Holden) is on his last legs when he accidentally drives into the estate of the faded silent movie star Norma Desmond (Swanson). When she learns Gillis is a writer, Desmond enlists him to help write a screenplay that will launch her back into silver-screen stardom, drawing him fatefully into her deluded fantasy world.
“Sunset Boulevard is that rare blend of pungent writing, expert acting, masterly direction, and unobtrusively artistic photography which quickly casts a spell over an audience and holds it enthralled to a shattering climax.” —Thomas M. Pryor, The New York Times, August 11, 1950
