Social Media Manager – [Hybrid]

The Social Media Manager plays a key role in bringing the Rubin’s brand to life across its
social platforms, evolving the Museum’s social media presence and growing its digital
audiences. As an integral part of the Marketing and Communications team, the Social
Media Manager collaborates with staff across the organization to develop social-first
content that promotes the Museum’s global exhibitions, projects, and collection;
educates and engages audiences; and supports the institution’s mission and goals. This
position is responsible for organic, paid, and influencer strategies, helping to build
authentic relationships and provide personally meaningful digital experiences.

The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with a clear perspective and an innate
understanding of content that can grow cultural awareness of the Rubin.
This is a full-time, hybrid, eligible and exempt position with a workweek schedule of
Mondays through Fridays with core work hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with some
flexibility as needed.

Traveling Exhibitions and Loans Registrar – [Hybrid]

The Traveling Exhibitions and Loans Registrar will assist in organizing, managing and caring for the Museum’s collection, and will support the implementation of the Museum’s traveling exhibitions and loan programs. The main responsibilities includes planning, preparing, and couriering works for Rubin traveling exhibitions, loans program, and art projects.

The Traveling Exhibitions and Loans Registrar will work very closely with the DCAC team and primarily with the Senior Collections Manager & Provenance Researcher and the Exhibitions Manager.

This is a full-time exempt position that is hybrid eligible with a workweek schedule of Mondays through Fridays with core work hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with some flexibility as needed especially during installation/deinstallation periods.

This position requires up to 50% of extensive travel both locally, nationally and possibly internationally.

Internship opportunities

The Rubin Museum of Art is offering semester-long internships to qualified undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates interested in the following areas: education, programming, communications, publications, exhibitions, collections and curatorial. In addition to assigned projects, interns have opportunities to learn more about the museum field through group activities that include trips to cultural institutions, brown-bag lunch discussions with staff and career development workshops.

Intern Benefits: All internships are unpaid. Academic requirements will be fulfilled by arrangement with the individual college or university. Interns that receive stipends through colleges/universities or outside sources are welcome to apply.

Apprentice Museum Educator

The Apprentice Museum Educator (AME) program at the Rubin Museum of Art is a stipend position that teaches practical skills to university students or recent graduates interested in future careers in the arts, programming and museum education for school & family audiences and/or adult audiences. Participants develop an understanding of gallery teaching, facilitation of public programs, and museum administration. General Curatorial Internship

Performs research and provides support for curatorial work and upcoming exhibitions that focus predominantly on Himalayan art and material culture. Learn more

Communications Internship

The Communications intern will work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to help promote the Rubin Museum, its exhibitions, and related programs to both the press and public. The intern will assist in the development of press campaigns and email marketing strategies and will execute various initiatives, both digital and on-site, to engage external stakeholders. Interns will learn about institutional voice, communications strategies, media relations best practices, and the larger role of the marketing and communications department. Learn more

Collections Management Internship

The Collections Management Intern works closely with the Collections Manager, Registrar and Department Administrator on several projects including object record updates within the collections database. Exhibition ManagementInternship

The Exhibitions Management Intern would assist with a wide variety of exhibitions related tasks.The intern would be involved in distinctive areas of exhibition management administration including but not limited to (1) Exhibitions Archive, (2) Exhibitions Schedules and Record Keeping and (3) Traveling Exhibitions database. Graphic Design Internship

The Rubin Museum of Art in-house creative team is seeking a graphic design intern to assist in the Marketing & Communications Department. The intern will work closely with the Marketing & Communications team and report directly to the Head of Graphics & Branding. Learn More

Social Media Internship

The Social Media Intern helps the Marketing and Communications team develop content for the Museum’s social media channels and execute strategies to increase the Museum’s effectiveness in the digital arena. Winter/Spring & SUMMER 2024 ARTS INTERN

The Museum will be offering an internship through ARTS Intern, a program of Studio in a School. The ARTS Intern program places college undergraduates from diverse cultural backgrounds in paid summer internships at New York City museums. Eligible applicants must show a financial need and must either be New York City residents or be enrolled in a college or university within the five boroughs of New York City.
