Chasing Consciousness
Free Conversations
Friday, October 7, 2016
5:00 PM–6:00 PM
Join Project Y-0 for a series of free talks and dialogues that explore the concept of consciousness and its role in our lives. These Friday night programs, co-presented by YHouse, Inc., raise questions with no easy answers:
- What can science tell us about consciousness?
- How are experimental, mathematical, and synthetic approaches to science exploring the nature of awareness?
- How do culture and society impact our awareness?
- Is artificial intelligence leading to conscious machines and what might we learn from that progression?
This week’s topic is:
Tackling the Hard Problem of Consciousness
Join Marcelo Gleiser, physicist, writer, and director of the Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Engagement at Dartmouth, and a panel of leading scientists and thinkers as they tackle whether or not we can directly link the detailed physical structure of a brain to consciousness.
These free conversations and presentations will take place in the Art Lounge between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. on Fridays this fall. No ticket required.
