Empowering Caregivers Online Music Creation and Self-Empowerment
Mindful Looking, Conversation, and Community
Monday, November 2, 2020
5:30 PM–6:30 PM
This special Empowering Caregivers session will feature music creation as a channel for self-empowerment. Board certified music therapist and licensed creative arts therapist Liza Wu, MT-BC, LCAT will invite participants to draw on the Rubin’s art collection for inspiration. Words, reactions, and moods will be shaped into a shared musical experience to build self-trust and creative freedom.
Caregiving for a loved one living with Alzheimer’s or dementia can leave you feeling powerless, faced with constant responsibilities and limited personal freedom. Even professional caregivers experience stress and burnout. How can you find empowerment amid these challenges?
At this program designed specifically for caregivers, we invite participants to examine the power dynamics in their lives and open their minds to a different understanding of their own agency. The program, led by trained Rubin docents, explores how contemporary and traditional Buddhist artworks can show new perspectives and pathways to empowerment.
This event is intended for caregivers and not for persons with dementia.
