Sandra Shahinian Leitner
Docent since 2014
Living in the neighborhood, I had often walked by the Museum, then became a member, and finally was happy to deepen my connection with the docent training. I enjoy explaining how the art is made and how the concepts apply to our lives. The art’s breathtaking beauty and the themes represented are often a surprise and a delight to visitors. I appreciate it anew by seeing their reactions. I also find that explaining the basic visual vocabulary, such as mudras, implements, and gestures, gives visitors some tools to then walk through the galleries on their own.
